Municipal staff are constantly required to write a complex range of documents from emails to briefing notes to reports and public notices. The complexity grows when each document has a unique audience such as a manager, supporting staff, council, local media, or residents and businesses. This virtual workshop by Wordsmith Associates offers three modules and 9+ hours of training that will explore core tools for you to write in an effective and clear way.

Using real municipal documents as examples, participants will learn how to:

  • approach writing based on the needs of different audiences
  • reduce the time required to draft your message
  • avoid common pitfalls of government writing and improve the quality of your communication
  • edit, rethink, and proof documents faster with better results
  • and more!

The workshop will involve three half-day virtual sessions held on May 12, May 19 and May 26, 2022.
